This project received funding and technical support from the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Program (GEF-SGP) administered by UNDP. It helped build the capacity of local communities living near the Bamezoun and Têdozoun sacred forests to ensure the inclusive management and governance of these sacred forests. It also promoted indigenous women's access to forest resources, as well as their support in promoting non-timber forest products (NTFPs), promoting agroecology and agroforestry, promoting indigenous/traditional values, conserving biodiversity, improving the resilience of communities and ecosystems to the effects of climate change and adapting to climate change through sustainable land and natural resource management, and promoting improved stoves in the Aguégués and Allada communes.
